Writing
Great Song Lyrics: The book is a concise and accessible
journey through the techniques and tricks of the
trade that Allan Caswell has developed during a
very successful 30-year career as a songwriter in
Australia.
It also contains a number of Allans lyrics, which
are stripped down, to explain creating and using the
hook, rhyme schemes, imagery and the thought processes
that went into creating them.
As Allan explains
I had been running songwriting workshops for a
number of years without being able to find a workable
text book.
Book Review: It is an excellent read and so easy to
follow. Allan has put in all the tricks of the trade and
lots of anecdotes to go with how some of his songs came
about.
It makes it seem so easy to write THAT great song, if you
just follow some simple steps. The clever thing about it
is the logical formats and references to songs so you can
easily follow what he is saying.
Highly recommended reading for all serious musos. (And
anyone who has an interest in song structure too). A nice
sized booked that can easily reside in your guitar case
for future reference whenever you are writing, too! Well
done Allan - you should be very proud of your latest
output! Narrell from Jaybees Entertainment
