Highly Strung has a long history in traditional music, from our beginning we were a bluegrass. Band featuring banjo, mandolin, fiddle, guitar and bass, audience demands caused us to evolve into something more as Charlie and Stuart featured with some success in local bush band Warrabush from 1995 until the folding of the band in 2003.

	Charlie’s career has spanned some twenty years, covering music styles as diverse as bluegrass, Country, Irish, Celtic, Bush, rock and blues, a very competent musician on both guitar and banjo. Charlie has a vast repertoire covering these styles. Traditional bush dances with Gaelic and Celtic roots are called where everybody gets involved and enjoys themselves immensely
	Stuart joined Charlie playing traditional bluegrass music in Highly Strung in 1992 after having played rockin’ country with Cliff Guy in Tasmania (and supporting his nomination for a gold guitar at the Tamworth country music festival.) Joining Warrabush in 1995 where we performed regularly at venues throughout Sydney and the South Coast on special occasions such as Australia day, St Patricks Day and ANZAC Day where the authentic feel of the music added to the success of the event.
	Kelvin has been a regular in the Illawarra folk/Irish music scene since the early 80’s with such well known bands as Rafferty’s Rules, Paddy’s Pigs, Feral Flynn Bush Band and the Back Burners. Kelvin like so many talented musicians felt the attraction of Tamworth where he competed in many fiddle competitions and at one point took out a busking competition with fellow musician Greg O’Brien. Kelvin’s fine fiddling brings an excitement to the music and adds real life to the song and dances of Highly Strung.
