Charlie – a
talented self-taught musician (banjo/guitar)
started his career with the illawarra folk music
club as a hobby. He quickly outgrew the club. As a
founding member of highly strung Charlie sought to
promote traditional bluegrass music to a wider
audience. From 1995 charlie fronted local bush band
warrabush and has had reasonable success in a
number of duos in more recent times.
Stuart –
with a music career covering some 20 years in a
variety of bands from rock and roll to country,
bluegrass and bush music, STUART has performed from
the high country of Tasmania to the big stage of
Tamworth and has been a regular performer in pubs
and clubs throughout city and country new south
Wales. With a genuine desire to bring down to earth
music to audiences have motivated us to bring you
highly strung Hawkan – an
accomplished musician since childhood (guitar). He
discovered the mandolin as a teenager and he never
looked back. Hawkan emigrated from Sweden in 1989
and brought his love for music with him. Hawkan was
also a founding member of highly strung playing
mandolin, giving the band an authentic bluegrass
sound. Hawkans contribution to highly strung
can’t be emphasised enough as he reproduces
rock guitar riffs that take the audience on a
musical journey back to a time of the rock masters
(Clapton, Knofler and the Eagles) plus some of
country musics biggest stars (allan Jackson, vince
gill and Johnny Cash) All Shook
