Mandy Shamin
Mandy has been singing and playing guitar since the age of 9 and performing professionally since she took to the pub scene with her acoustic solo act and after several years on the circuit formed the award winning group ‘Mandy Shamin & The Southern Comfort Band’ which included her brother Shane, on Bass guitar and lead/backing vocals and sister Debra on lead/ backing vocals, banjo & percussion.
In the early 80′s the band won several awards for ‘Best Country Rock Band’ at the Gong Awards as well as Debra & Mandy taking out the vote for ‘Best Duet Performance’ two years running at the Tamworth Country Festival.
Since then Mandy has performed consistently in duo’s, bands & solo engagements expanding her talents to cover just about every style in contemporary music.
Some of her involvements include ‘The Wilson Shamin Duo’ (Rob Wilson), Tailfeather, The Barnjivers, ‘Heart of Soul’ .
Since then Mandy has performed as a solo entertainer with much success on the South Coast of New South Wales, Southern Highlands and Sydney.
Since then Mandy has performed consistently in duo’s, bands & solo engagements expanding her talents to cover just about every style in contemporary music.
Mandy has performed as a solo entertainer with much success on the South Coast of New South Wales, Southern Highlands and Sydney and has just returned from a 3 month stint @ The Kandooma Resort in the Maldives where she performed 6 nights per week for dinner guests in front of The Cafe under the palm trees beneath the stars with balmy breezes to guests from all nationalities and walks of life.
Her repertoire consists of many of the early folk & country songs that gained her popularity in the early days:- Creedance Clearwater, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Dolly Parton, Eagles, Joan Baez, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Led Zepplin, Linda Ronstadht, Melanie, Neil Young, Tracy Chapman, Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac) & Bonnie Rait as well as the additions of Kasey Chambers, Celine Dion, Bette Midler, Bonnie Tyler, Carly Simon, Carol King, Jewel, Desiree, Shania Twain, Sting/Police, Tina Turner, Anastacia, Alanis Morrisette, KT Tunstell, Scissor Sisters, Train, Nickelback, just to name a few!
Mandy happily plays to audiences of all ages and regular updating of new and old songs enables Mandy to please everyone’s taste. Her vocal ability….well it just keeps getting better….there is no substitute for experience and passion both of which are evident in her live performances.
