This dynamic trio plays a range of music with influences coming mainly from the mid 1960’s to the mid 1980’s period.

The music played by this classy combo is a mix of classic numbers from the funk, soul, jazz and R’n’B catalogue of that era including numbers by music legends such as Herbie Hancock, Booker T & the MG’s, Georgie Fame & the Blue Flames, Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder, Michael Franks, Ivan Jones and Leon Russell to name a few. More details on specific tunes performed are included in the table at the end of this biography.

Ron Volcich Ron Volcich ( Guitar and vocals). Although not formally trained in music as is John, Ron nevertheless has had a wide range of experience playing solo gigs or over the years with small combos such as Tapestry (early 1990’s) & Swingtown (4-piece) which he currently plays in with John.

He is well versed in many different styles of playing including rock, rockabilly, blues, folk, jazz & funk. His energetic style of playing perfectly complements the keyboard & percussive sounds produced by John and Tony.

Ron’s main guitar influences include playing in the styles of Cornell Dupree, Ivan (Boogaloo Joe) Jones, Melvin Sparks and Larry Carlton. Precise phrasings and colourful chord inversions which bring the most out of his instruments.

Tony DoyleTony Doyle (percussion and vocals). Rather than ask what he’s done, the question should be what hasn’t he done?

Tony is an extraordinary musician who has worked as a session and tour musician for many high profile stars from the late 1960’s to the present time and is also involved with production studios in Sydney and the Sothern Highlands of NSW. His personal biography (can be supplied on request) includes sessions or tours he has done with well known artists such as Garry Moore, Cornell Dupree, Mickey Tucker, Judy Bailey, Jackie Ozarski, Broderick Smith, Andy Gibb, Wendy Saddington, Marcia Hines, Roger Frampton, Lanie Kazan and Judy Stone to list a few.

Apart from his work in Wollongong, Tony currently plays shows in Sydney Robert Susz ( Aka: “Continental Robert”) from popular 1980’s Australian band “The Dynamic Hypnotics” .Tony has become involved with John and Ron as he became the replacement percussionist for Swingtown.

As Swingtown is dedicated to swing music from the 30’s to 60’s John, Ron and Tony felt it inappropriate to include music played by the Mood Operators into it’s repertoire. As a result, “The Mood Operators” was conceived!
