Tony Jaggers

Tony Jaggers singerInspired by the music of the Beatles and the British Beat Invasion Tony Jaggers started playing guitar at an early age and by age 16 was doing paid performances around the New England area, touring as a support for Normie Rowe and sharing stages with the likes of The Valentines, Flying Circus, Cleves and La De Das. It was a heady introduction to the performing life and 50 years onwards Jaggers is still going strong.

A move to the NSW South Coast in the mid 70s saw him search out other young players and under various names, Cadillacs, Four on the Floor and the Tony Jaggers Band he was soon plying the coastal strip from Wollongong to the Vic border delivering hard edged “Pub Rock”

Along the way his bands gained experience supporting acts like Rose Tattoo, Gangajang, Old 55, Swanee and many more. It was a hard slog but a great life and certainly a means to “pay ones dues” Jaggers always had a love for the Blues and while managing the local community radio station 2EAR FM he took over presentation of a long running Blues Show, Mojos and Jellyrolls.

This led to many connection in the blues circuit and soon he left the shelter and safety of a band environment and began playing solo. Some of the highlight gigs included Canberra Press Club where he was honoured to be joined on stage by Dutch Tilders and Phil Manning, Broadbeach Blues Festival, Thredbo Blues Festival, Tumbafest and 8 years in a row at the Great Southern Blues Festival under the guise of Jag- gers and d’Witt, Tony Jaggers and Friends, Henry Correy Band and the ultimate year , being backed by Little Goose and Phil Manning of Chain.

These days Tony has been working both solo and as a duo running the gamut from Blues to Pub rock covers and all stops between and till loving every moment of the life

There is still life in the old dog!
