I
had the pleasure recently of seeing Tony Martin live. Tony is a
seasoned musician/songwriter with around 30 years experience both
in Australia and abroad, and is mainly known in the country
circles with 7 albums to his credit. Tony has included a vast
range of blues based material on his last release "Lost In
Transit" and is currently recording a new album which will be all
blues.
Tony also appears in a variety of modes, being a very versatile
entertainer. There is the solo mode, The Tony Martin Duo, The Tony
Martin Band, and also a special tribute show called The Acoustic
Revolution Show which features the songs of Cat Stevens, Bob
Dylan, James Taylor, John Denver, Donovan, Harry Chapin, Neil
Young and Don McLean. He has recently returned from a tour of the
USA where he played many venues in Texas and Nashville and
appeared on TV shows.
I was very impressed with his blues material, not only was the
musicianship of a high standard, but the feeling and character
that Tony is able to impart rates amongst the select few who have
the gift of expression.
